Busy Wednesday, 11 Fire Calls

It was a busy Wednesday for the firefighters of 227.  Eleven (11) calls for the day, ranging from CO alarms, Fire alarms, 2 Mutual aid runs (Plum Boro), Kitchen fire, and vehicle accidents with injuries.

Commercial Structure Fire
11/18/11

On Friday morning, shortly before 7:00am.  Stations 227, 222, 223, 225, 196 were alert for an apartment on fire at 11670 Frankstown Rd.  EN-227 arrived on scene with smoke showing, Crews advanced an attack line.  Truck 227 arrived on scene and assisted EN-227.  EN-225 secured a water supply.  223 & 222 assisted with extinguishment and ventilation.  Damage was confined to only one apartment.  No injuries were reported.  The Allegheny County Fire Marshal is investigating the cause.

Residential Structure Fire
10/22/11

On Saturday evening, Stations 227, 223, 222, 225, 196 were alerted for a residential structure fire in the 11650-blk of Althea Dr.  PHPD arrived on scene and reported a working fire in the first floor and basement.  EN-227 arrived on scene and crews began attacking the fire.  EN-227 secured a water supply.  Crews from 222 & 223 assisted with extinguishing the fire.  The Allegheny County Fire Marshall was called to the scene, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.  No injuries were reported.
