NEW Truck 227

Today, The Officers of Penn Hills No.7 are pleased to announce the purchase and delivery of a new 2009 Pierce Arrow XT 100' Aluminum Rear Mount Platform.  This ladder truck was a demo from Pierce Manufacturing and is replacing our 28 year old ladder truck that was taken out of service.  Members have been busy training on set-up and driving, now that the platform is in the front of the truck.  Truck 227 is in service, and the new truck has already seen action.  Tools & equipment are being mounted daily!  Graphics should be completed by the middle of August.  The Members & Officers would like to extend a THANK YOU to the Penn Hills Mayor & Council.  Without the pledge of assistance from Mayor & Council, the purchase of this MUCH NEEDED piece of equipment would not have been possible.

 

 EN-227-2 SOLD
7/7/10

Today, EN-227-2 was sold to Rosedale VFC (St.222).  EN-227-2 served St.227 for countless years and we are glad to know that it will serve St.222 for many many years to come!

 

Truck 227 OOS

It was deep regrets that the Officer announced today that Truck 227 is being taken out of service.  The aerial truck served the Penn Hills Community for 27 years.  Recent mechanical problems have forced the Officers to take the aerial truck out of service.  The Officers and Members are exploring all possibilities to rectify this situation.  Please check back for further updates.

 

New Look For The Garage Bay

The past few days the wash bay under went a make over.  This is the first of four bays to get the new make over.  The floor coating not only looks good, it provides slip protection making the garage area safer for our members and guests.  As each bay is completed we will post more pictures.

 

New Gear Lockers

For the past few days a few of the members have been working non stop to install the new gear lockers.  Members installed 35 lockers in 2 1/2 days.  They look great, thank for the hard work!!!

 

2009 Year In Review

With 2009 coming to an end, we at Penn Hills No.7 have had another record year for calls.  For 2009 the officer and members answered 593 calls for service.  On behalf of all the Officer, we would like to thank all the member and their families for all their hard work and dedication.  We look forward to what 2010 will bring us.

 

Training With The New Equipment
11/2/09

Training continued Monday evening on the new Paratech Rescue Struts and the Master Control Kit.  Member were shown various shoring and stabilizing techniques from the Paratech Representative.  Special Thanks to Shaun Ornot from Premier Safety & Paratech for coming out to the fire house for the valuable training, and Twilight Towing of Verona for donating a vehicle for our members to train on.  

 

New Air Shore & Air Bag Controller Kit Arrives

With our recent purchase of six (6) Paratech Rescue Struts, the members approved the purchase of a new master control kit.  This kit will work seamlessly with all of our air operated equipment.

 

Fire Prevention Day At Local Elementary School

On Wednesday, multiple members from Station 227 went to Dible Elementary for their annual Fire Prevention Day.  Students of all ages were able to look over EN-227 & R-227 and ask question about how and why the equipment is used.  They were given a wide variety of fire prevention tips and ideas to bring to their own homes  Thanks to all the members that took time out of their day to my this presentation a great one.
